Christmas is an enchanted world that comes, stays for an instant, before disappearing again. It comes from afar and then vanishes into the wide blue yonder. It comes just once a year but we need a whole year to prepare for it. Christmas is a teeny-tiny world where the collective We is no longer a flight of fancy and compassion flows from one heart to another. Christmas is an ever-changing fantasy that ebbs and flows every year, marking the stages of a lifetime that you will bear with you for the rest of your life. Christmas, like every Christmas, is the time when we promise to be better and sometimes we really are.
